The Simple Magnifier

Discuss!

A 1.80 cm tall snail sits 9.00 cm in front of a thin lens with focal length 11.5 cm. Find the image distance, the image height, and the lateral magnification of the image.

Nolan uses a thin lens with focal length 11.5 cm as a magnifying glass to examine a snail, which is 1.80 cm tall. He adjusts the position of the lens so that he sees a focused image at (negative) infinity. The image has an angular magnification of 2.45. What is the approximate near point distance of his eye?
